2011-2012 Annual Appeal

Fort Thomas Independent School’s students and teachers benefit from support

For the 2011-12 school year, all 5 schools in the Fort Thomas Independent School District will have over $28,000 in additional funds to purchase new technology and supplies due to the Fort Thomas Foundation Foundation's teacher grant program. Since 2001, the Foundation has awarded over $366,000 in teacher grants for items that are above and beyond the district's operating budget. Money raised through the Foundation's Tailgate Club, annual appeal, dance and employee giving drive help support the teacher grant program. Among this year's grant awards are:

* Digital camera with memory stick to Lisa Birkley of Highlands Middle School for middle school photojournalism for a total of $500;
* Two (2) timpani to Lori Hopkins, music teacher at Highlands Middle and High Schools, for percussion instruction for a total of $3,600;
* Document camera to Norma Lawless of Moyer Elementary for a total of $499;
* Seven (7) Success Maker software licenses to Diana Stratton, principal of Woodfill Elementary, for a total of $6,664;

* Thirty (30) digital cameras (to be shared with the STLP groups at each school), fifty (50) software licenses, seventy-five (75) memory sticks to Nikki Everett and Jennifer Flynn, art teachers for Johnson Elementary, Moyer Elementary and Woodfill Elementary, for a total of $8,525;
